It's kind of nice upgrading to the latest and greatest as soon as it comes out, although it opens the door to all kinds of problems if there are bugs that affect your system.

Yeah. I believe version 4 is a pretty good version, but I don't know which subversion that is the best one.

I always forget to restart after a kernel upgrade. I went on for awhile before I noticed the wrong kernel version in my gkrellm.

Technically, you shouldn't have to restart when using the 4.0 kernel, but I have seen it needs to be done from the same reasons you're saying.
