I never did figure out why that version of Linux was panicking in Void. The Arch version of the same kernel, 4.6.2-1-ARCH, runs just fine. I dunno, maybe the Arch devs changed something? Or maybe by the time I got the Arch version, it was already patched? It's weird. But I agree, no sync == no fun.
