What's your opinion about open source fonts? Check out this website. Carlito is an example of an open source font. An example of the license the Carlito font is using:

I assume that open source fonts are the only ones that come with distros like Debian? As with anything else computer-related, if it's proprietary, I don't want it. Unfortunately, it's a problem sending documents to people using proprietary software if you used open source fonts... ugh. I prefer sending .pdf documents for this reason.

Maybe we should start using only .pdf documents. Hmm.... wonder if it's a pure open source version of .pdf format.

Get Scribus. It's the closest thing to a libre version of Adobe Acrobat or Adobe InDesign.

There is no way to use libre fonts on this forum.

Darn. It makes me disappointed. It's not your fault, but I wish they could implement it.

Maybe we can hack the forum, and install it ourself.

I don't think they'd like that. It seems to me that most sites generally leave the choice of font up to the browser's settings.

That could be, but I still wish they could cater more to the FLOSS/GPLv3/GNU people as well.

Yeah right. Micro$haft and Masters of DRM would **** themselves if anybody did anything for the FLOSS community.

I know. That's why it's so important that people started to see the importance of supporting FLOSS.

Never gonna happen, the way we're going. Hardware is becoming so closed that using completely libre machinery is rapidly becoming impossible.

I know, and it's frustrating.

I'm probably going to have to upgrade to a new(er) laptop once I begin school since I'll be compiling things a lot... there is nothing available that is libre anymore that has decent specs. Furthermore, I am scared ****less (pardon my French) that I am going to have to have a Wangblow$ installation. It will seriously eat me alive to have a machine running that garbage, but I don't know if I'll have a choice.

If I was you, I would get a laptop that has plenty of RAM, run GNU/Linux and then run Wangblow$ in a VM. That way you can boot it up when you're forced to use it, but will be out of the way otherwise.

I also forgot about my desktop machine. It's an Intel Xeon quad-core at 2.66GHz with 8GB RAM. Not great, but not too shabby. It runs portage in Funtoo quickly enough. Again, it would kill me, but I could definitely run Wangblow$ (7 -- NOT 8, 8.1 or TEH ÜBER BOTNET!) in a VM on there for assignments. I guess I'll find out. For C and C++, I'll can use gcc, so I don't see why Wangblow$ would be necessary for that...

Trust me, they would probably find a reason for you to use Wangblow$ - even if it doesn't make any sense.

Especially when I do database stuff. Whatever. I guess I'll cross that bridge when I get to it. I have resolved not to make any permanent Wangblow$ installations, though.
